Benjamin Porat, a 9th grade student at Oak Park High School in Oak Park, California, was recently awarded the distinction of Certified Microsoft Office 2010 Specialist (MOS 2010) Master. Benjamin is one of the youngest persons in the world to attain this internationally recognized certification and milestone.
Congratulations goes to Benjamin, and also to his teacher, Mr. Erik Amerikaner!
Through Erik’s diligent work, Oak Park High School is a nationally recognized leader in certifying students in the Microsoft Office Program. Since 2007, over 600 Oak Park students have been certified in one or more Microsoft Office Programs. Through a partnership with the Oak Park Parent-Faculty Club and the Ventura County Office of Education-Regional Occupation Program, this certification program is available to students who have completed the Advanced Office Applications class. If you have questions about this certification program you may contact Erik at: eamerikaner@oakparkusd.org. Look for Erik at the Educating for Careers Conference.
Certification Matters
This past September, Governor Jerry Brown signed into law SB 1458, a measure which expands accountability criteria for California public schools to include factors that measure college and career readiness. The Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) career sector is fortunate to have many industry partners that provide resources that support academy programs and that focus on assessment and industry certification of knowledge and skills.
The prestigious certification earned by Benjamin authenticates the highest level of proficiency in the use of the entire Microsoft Office 2010 suite of business productivity programs, including Word 2010 Core and Expert, PowerPoint 2010, Microsoft Office Excel 2010 Core and Expert, and Access 2010.
Benjamin Porat will be recognized for this world-class achievement by the Oak Park Unified School District Board on Tuesday April 9th, 2013 at 6:00pm at Oak Park High School.
Well done!
