The California Department of Education recently announced it is implementing the California Career Technical Education (CTE) Incentive Grant (CTEIG) program to establish a state education, economic, and workforce development initiative with the goal of providing pupils in kindergarten through grade twelve, inclusive, with the knowledge and skills necessary to transition to employment and postsecondary education.
This program will: 1) encourage the development of new CTE programs; and, 2) enhance and maintain current CTE programs during implementation of the school district and charter school local control funding formula pursuant to California Education Code Section 42238.02. The CCTEIG provides $900 million over three years ($400 million in Year One, $300 million in Year Two, and $200 million in Year Three) for CTE programs geared toward providing students a successful transition to postsecondary education and careers. Grant recipients must match CTEIG funding with local dollars according to a scale that varies by year.
Information on eligibility and how local education agencies can apply for CTEIG funding is available here.
