Burning Glass Technologies earlier this year released a report called Blurred Lines that discusses how business and technology skills are merging to create high opportunity hybrid jobs. These hybrid jobs don’t necessarily fit the typical “job titles” used in workforce planning, but offer high pay for applicants that have particular digital skills. The roles covered in the report are in high demand by employers, pay well, and, importantly, are accessible with technical training less than a computer science degree.
High quality Career Technical Education (CTE) programs are responsive to changing economic demands and take steps to ensure that teachers and counselors are informed of new developments in their fields. In California, the locations with highest demand for hybrid jobs are found in “tech hubs”: San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Jose and San Diego.
Skill clusters in the report include:
- Web Development & Design
- Digital Marketing & Marketing Automation
- Mobile Development
- Data Analytics
- Product Management
- User Interface/User Experience
- All Hybid Jobs
- All IT Jobs
