New Game Evaluation Opportunity

Area 52 Games, in conjunction with Disney Interactive and LucasArts, have announced a brand new free-to-play Star Wars game coming to the PC called Star Wars: Attack Squadrons.

This new game is seeking feedback from the public. School students, parents, and staff who want to give feedback to the developers during the winter of 2014 can sign up at starwarsattacksquadrons.com.

Schools that have programs in game design and programming, and/or software engineering may want to consider applying to give the developers feedback on the new game. California’s Games and Simulation Pathway standards may be used as a guide to help students understand game design, hardware, graphics and animation.

The “select beta” launch of the game allows a small group of public participants to give feedback on the game before it goes public. Star Wars: Attack Squadrons will allow players to customize and tune “popular Star Wars ships” like X-Wings and TIE fighters and will support dogfights of up to 16 players. When the game is released it will be free-to-play with add on features for sale like many apps and games today.

This is also a great opportunity for K-12, community college, and university participants to collaborate – especially those pursuing STEM+ARTS.
