Staff from the California State University at Monterrey Bay and Hartnell College has designed a program for college-ready students to earn a bachelor’s degree in three years for about $12,000 in tuition costs. Please forward this email to your local career center, counselor, or to a graduating student who is interested in going to college. There is a March 15th priority deadline for applications.
The computer science – information technology degree they earn will prepare them for high paying jobs in the Information and Communication Technology sector. There are more than 150,000 jobs available each year for student who have computer science & mathematics degrees. So while you have heard many college students can’t find work, this is not the case for students who are pursuing a career in the Information and Communication Technologies sector.
Chance favors the prepared Mind
In order to take advantage of this program, a student must be academically prepared. These “gateway” requirements underscore the need to provide rigorous instruction to prepare students for college. A good initial approach is to teach Algebra 1 concurrently with Exploring Computer Science.
Student Eligibility Requirements:
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in high school;
- Agree to follow the prescribed course pathway and to participate in program activities; and,
- Have completed algebra I, algebra II, and geometry and preferably completed math analysis (pre-calculus).
