California’s Project Lead the Way (PLTW) team is achieving unprecedented growth in California. The PLTW network in California has six regional hubs, four affiliate universities, and nearly 700 schools. Of those 700 schools, almost half will offer PLTW for the first time this fall. The number of PLTW schools has doubled between the 2013-14 and 2014-15 school years.
While historically an engineering and biomedical science program, PLTW is now moving into computer science. PLTW is developing courses that form a comprehensive computer science pathway and is continuing to increase its offerings in this field. The PLTW program now includes high school and middle school programs and PLTW is beginning to offer elementary curriculum and programs.
PLTW stands out as an effective program that includes professional development, high quality curriculum and effective professional learning communities. PLTW was nationally recognized for its outstanding quality.
PLTW partners with companies, colleges and universities to provide financial support, professional learning opportunities, post-secondary pathways, and articulated credit. PLTW leaders are distinguished by their passion to empower and collaborate with teachers to serve students well.
Kudos (!!!) to California’s PLTW team for their outstanding accomplishments!
